Current Work
Leading frontend architecture at Storable across a 36-application microservice platform. Day to day, I run sprint planning for a team of five, author design documents for cross-team initiatives, and coordinate shared-codebase workflow with 24 additional developers across time zones. Current focus areas: driving WCAG accessibility compliance at the platform level, improving Core Web Vitals across the application suite, and establishing architectural patterns that reduce coordination cost as the team scales.
Learning
- Systems thinking applied to software architecture — studying how organizational structure and communication patterns shape the systems teams build (Conway's Law in practice, feedback loops, leverage points)
- Advanced accessibility patterns for complex, multi-application platforms — moving beyond checklist compliance toward structural accessibility that scales across dozens of independently deployed apps
- ML engineering fundamentals: vector similarity search, embedding pipelines, and building recommendation systems from scratch — bridging the gap between model output and production-quality UX
Reading
- "Learning Systems Thinking" by Diana Montalion — exploring how to reason about interconnected systems rather than isolated components, and how that lens changes architectural decision-making
- "Fundamentals of Software Architecture" by Mark Richards & Neal Ford — studying architecture styles, trade-off analysis, and the soft skills that distinguish architects from senior engineers
Writing
- Case study: designing a three-tier fallback strategy for vector-powered book recommendations — how Zilliz, MiniLM embeddings, and Open Library data combine to keep results relevant even for unlisted titles
- Notes on leading frontend architecture decisions across distributed teams — how design documents and ADRs reduce coordination cost and turn code review into mentorship
Side Projects
- Semantic book recommendation engine (Next.js, FastAPI, Zilliz Cloud) — exploring how vector search compares to collaborative filtering at scale, with a three-tier fallback for edge cases
- NLP experimentation: studying deterministic patterns in speech and text to build better intuition for how language models reason about structure
- This portfolio — iterating on the design system, information architecture, and copy to better communicate engineering depth to technical recruiters and hiring managers
